Dr.ChenXiaobo was Invited by Professor Wan Decheng to Give an Academic Report

On the afternoon of October 16, 2018, Dr.Chen Xiaobo, the director of the Deep Water Technology Center(DWTC) in Bureau Veritas(BV), was invited by professor Wan Decheng to give an academic report in Ruth Mulan Chuchao Building. The theme of this report is “Free-Surface Hydrodynamics by Multi-Domain Method”. Professor Wan Decheng personally presided over the report. The report attracted more than forty students. Chen Xiaobo is the director of DWTC in BV. He was graduated from Tsinghua university in 1983, recived his PhD in Hydradymics from Ecole Centrale Nantes in 1988. During 1988 to 1990, he worded as Post-doctoral fellow in Institut Francais du Petrole. He has worked at BV since 1991 and has been a senior engineer and researcher. At the age of 1995 to 2006, Chen Xiaobo wordked as a editor in “Marine Structure”. Chen Xiaobo is also the menber of International Association of Classification Societies(IACS), International Ship Structure Conference(ISSC) and International Standardization Organization(ISO). Dr. Chen is the developer of Hydrostar. Dr.Chen introduced Multi-Domain Method(MDM), which can be used in studying the loading and movement loading of ships caused by waves. This new type of MDM based on analytical control provides a solid foundation for the development of practical and reliable tools in ship design.
 
At the end of report, teachers and students actively ask questions and communicate with Dr. Chen. Through this report meeting, the teachers and students at the meeting learned about the academic frontier direction and dynamics in the field of computational fluid dynamics and offshore floating fan, broadened the horizon and accumulated valuable experience for carrying out related research work.
