The research team's 2015 doctoral dissertation proposal successfully held

       On October 27, 2017, five doctoral graduate students Cheng Ping, Zhuang Yuan, Chen Xiang, Liu Zhenghao, and Miao Aiqin performed a doctoral dissertation proposal in B801 Mulan Shipbuilding Building of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Experts responsible for accreditation are Prof. Zou Zaojian (Shanghai Jiaotong University), Prof. Yang Chenjun (Shanghai Jiaotong University), Prof. Zhu Renchuan (Shanghai Jiaotong University), Researcher Fu Shixiao (Shanghai Jiaotong University), Researcher Chen Zuogang (Shanghai Jiaotong University) and Ph.D. Supervisor Professor Wan Decheng. The defense was chaired by Prof. Zou Zaojian. Teacher Zou first made clear the time for the defense and related regulations so that the students who participated in the defense for the first time could understand the relevant procedures and precautions.
       The topic of Cheng Ping's thesis is:The aerodynamic-hydraulic fully coupled analysis of the floating fan based on the overlay-grid technology. She mainly introduced the relevant research background, the research significance, the research purpose, the key issues, and the technical research course of the subject.. Experts at the meeting believe that the objectives of this project are clear and there are more accumulated work, which provides a good basis for follow-up work. However, the main difficulties and innovations of the project need further conciseness.


 
       The title of Zhuang Yuan is: fully-coupled ship's internal and external viscous flow field based on the HOS and CFD combined method. Experts at the meeting affirmed the innovative nature of the topic, and hoped that she could improve the topic and provide guidance for the follow-up work. They hoped to improve the report and give clearer ideas.


 
       The title of Chen Xiang's thesis will be: GPU parallel acceleration and application of MPS method. He mainly introduces GPU-based parallel acceleration technology and CUDA programming language. The experts at the meeting fully affirmed the innovativeness and necessity of the research content, but at the same time pointed out that it is necessary to explain the difficulties of the GPU application in the MPS method. The paper should start from the aspects of workload, difficulty and innovation, content system. To enrich and improve, form a systematic doctoral thesis.


 
       Liu Zhenghao's thesis title is : study of the hydrodynamic properties of waves and currents acting on marine structures. He mainly introduced the application of three-dimensional numerical pools in the interaction of waves, currents, and structures, and numerically simulates different types of waves, and discussed the climbing phenomenon of cylindrical wave in regular wave, the hydrodynamic analysis of the ocean platform under the action of wave flow, and the prediction of the motion of the floating platform under the action of water flow, which provides a reference for the design of columnar structure of marine structures. Participating experts believe that this topic has a fundamental theoretical significance, and also pointed out that numerical research should be reflected in the topic. Secondly, it should also propose criteria for evaluating wave breaking and highlight the innovative nature of the topic.

 
       All five students passed the doctoral dissertation proposal. The students demonstrated their rich work since they entered the school and won the unanimous approval of the evaluation teacher. At the same time, both the evaluation experts and the instructors put forward some very instructive opinions, which laid a solid foundation for the students to focus on their work, clarify the research focus, and carry out follow-up work.
