Welcome Message

OpenFOAM® is the leading free, open source software for computational fluid dynamics, and other computational science and engineering. The annual OpenFOAM® Workshop is the most important and influential forum for researchers and users from universities, institutes as well as industries to promote collaborative activities and share recent advances on OpenFOAM® in many areas. It is an attractive community event opening to scientists, scholars, engineers, students, users and contributors, regardless of their background and avocations. In 2006, the 1st OpenFOAM® Workshop (OFW1) was held in Zagreb, Croatia. Since then it was held every year successively in Zagreb, Milan, Montréal, Gothenburg, Pennsylvania, Darmstadt, Jeju, Zagreb, Ann Arbor, Guimarães and Exeter, respectively. The coming 13th OpenFOAM® Workshop (OFW13) will be held in Shanghai, China, on June 24-29, 2018, and hosted and organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University(SJTU), and co-organized by Journal of Hydrodynamics, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Ship Engineering, and State Key Laboratory of Navigation and Safety Technology. The event includes community-led training, conference presentations and posters, and mini-symposium (MS) of community day to bring together developers, modellers and users of all versions of the code for exchanging ideas and discussing future directions.

On behalf of the OpenFOAM® Workshop Committee, Shanghai Jiao Tong University would like to invite you to attend the 13th OpenFOAM® Workshop, which will be held from June 24th to 29th, 2018 in Shanghai, China.

Everyone who is interesting in learning OpenFOAM, even those do not have plan to submit abstracts or MS proposals, are still very welcomed to participate the OFW13. (Register by clicking here.)

Following are the programs of the OpenFOAM® workshop:

1. Training Sessions (Jun. 25)

Providing free training on the theory and use of OpenFOAM® and on related pre- and post-processing tools and processes from some of the experienced users and developers of the code. These sessions are for not only beginners but also for advanced users and developers.

2. Plenary and parallel sessions (Jun. 26-27)

Presenting latest and cutting-edge researches, developments and applications in the code. Prospective authors are invited to submit an abstract (no more than 4 pages) to present your work as a presentation or poster. All abstracts will be peer reviewed and the accepted abstracts will be included in the OFW13 proceedings. Submit abstracts by clicking here. The deadline of abstract submission is May 20, 2018.

3. Mini-Symposium (MS) of Community Day (Jun. 28)

Providing an opportunity for more informal discussions and presentations in areas of interests. Prospective Mini-Symposium organizers are invited to submit proposals by clicking here. The deadline of proposal for Mini-Symposium of Community Day is May 20, 2018.

4. Publication in Journals

Selected abstracts will be recommended their full papers for publication in special issues or columns of the following journals based on the regular journal review after the workshop.

▪ Ocean Engineering

▪ Computers & Fluids

▪ Journal of Hydrodynamics

▪ China Ocean Engineering

▪ Journal of Ocean Engineering and Science
